What is The Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition (TUSC)?

We are a federation of different Trade Unions and Socialist groups who recognise no one group can stand in the elections alone. We need to come together under a common banner to reach the working class. We collectively put forward TUSC for that very reason.

What do you mean by federation?

Accepted Answer

Each individual organisation maintains its own programme and goals, but we come together to contribute to a broader TUSC programme democratically. As long as a new organisation agrees with our baseline TUSC programme, they can advocate for additional demands and campaign under our banner.

Question 3

What does it mean when it says the event is 'hosted by the Socialist Party and Socialist Students'?

Accepted Answer

In the case of this event, it was comrades in these member organisations who called the meeting as part of TUSC and who will be facilitating the meeting. They will be separately advocating for their work outside of TUSC, as all organisations in the coalition are free to do.

I/we want to put forward a TUSC candidate in Oxford, how do we do that?

Great, reach out to arrange a discussion with our comrades to see if you or your organisation agree with the TUSC programme. If so, then we'll be discussing the question of who will stand during the meeting where you can make the case for why you should stand.
