About this event

Think community organising rally meets Methodist band meeting meets Holy Spirit revival!

The Wholehearted Conference sold out its 250 places in just a few days. We don’t want anyone to miss out on the energy, so we’re running a holy experiment in the seasons after the Wholehearted Conference.

Wholehearted monthly aims to digitally connect up diverse leaders doing mission across the Connexion in different ways and contexts for inspiration, equipping and networking for the sake of transformation in the world God loves.

Together we’ll open to the Holy Spirit, learn from a different renowned guest speaker each month, and break into groups for wisdom-sharing and equipping for mission with others who share our particular focus.

We’re praying, learning, and acting in commitment to being, by God’s grace, a growing, inclusive, evangelistic, and justice-seeking Church!

On 10th June we'll be joined by Krish Kandiah OBE, author and founder of The Sanctuary Foundation, a charity supporting refugees to find welcome, work and worthwhile housing in the UK. He is recognised as an expert in refugee resettlement , child welfare reform, educational innovation and civil society mobilisation. Krish has led the charge on mobilising civil society groups and churches as they have supported recent arrivals from Hong Kong, Afghanistan, Ukraine and Sudan. He was appointed by the Secretary of State for Education as the Chair of the Adoption and Special Guardianship Leadership Board (2019-2021) where he brought strategic leadership to the finding of permanent loving families for children in the care system.

On 8th July we'll be joined by Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham. Andy was elected Mayor of Greater Manchester in May 2017, and was re-elected for a second term in May 2021. Prior to being Mayor, Andy was MP for Leigh from 2001. In Government, Andy has held Ministerial positions at the Home Office, Department of Health and the Treasury. In 2008 he became Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, before returning to Health as Secretary of State in 2009. In opposition, Andy has served as Shadow Education Secretary, Shadow Health Secretary and Shadow Home Secretary. Andy is a keen supporter of Everton FC.

Frequently asked questions

Why are you doing this?

We want to expand the movement of a growing, inclusive, evangelistic, justice-seeking Church. Joining together across the Connexion and opening ourselves to God is an important part of this. We want to provide space for both contextual formation and also cross-vocational learning.

Who will the speakers be?

Some will be names you know, others will be complete unknowns. All will be people who are part of the movement or are doing similar work, empowered by the Holy Spirit's movement in them and in their communities.

What will the breakout rooms be like?

Each breakout room will be a little different, to best serve those involved. Some will be for specific audiences, likethose who share the same role in different areas of the Connexion. Others will be open to anyone to join. All will be about inspiring and equipping one another.

Will this replace other meetings / networks I'm part of?

Wholehearted Monthly is drawing together lots of existing activities, but some things will continue separately as well. It all depends on what best serves the people involved. If you're not sure, contact the person who co-ordinates your existing meetings / networks.

What do I do if I want to join more than one breakout group?

We recognise that most of us have more than one role, or interest. You may wish to join different breakout groups each month and be involved in different conversations. Or, this could be an opportunity to discern what God may be placing on your heart for particular focus in this season.

Do I have to sign up for each month separately?

Yes please! It's helpful for us to know who is coming. But don't worry, once you've signed up for a session and given permission, we will send you information about the next month's session as a reminder. Details will also go out in Connexional enews.
