Why is there a women only slot?
Information sharing events need to help us link effectively with everyone in our community, and inclusion of a women only slot offers women the opportunity to come and ask questions about the role. Often these are questions specific to this group. It gives women a chance to ask what its really like in an environment where they may be otherwise reluctant.
We are encouraging applications from all under-represented groups to enable us to work towards a workforce that is truly reflective of the communities we serve. Women occupy half the Scottish population, yet feature 5% of our wholetime firefighter staff.
