Whorlton and Swainby Guided Walk
Sun 6 August 2017, 11:00 – 13:45 BST
Part of the North York Moors National Park’s Guided Walks Programme. David Kennedy takes you through the village of Swainby, which dates back to the 14th century, and the deserted village of Whorlton, with the ruins of its medieval castle and church.
At Huthwaite Green we learn something of the ironstone mines of Scugdale and the remnants of the area’s railway systems.
There are steep sections on this 4.5-mile walk. Packed lunch required. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
Sorry, no dogs. Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
Our guided walks are free, although a suggested donation of £2 is welcome, helping us to care for the National Park.
Booking essential. For more information call 01439 772738.
