Event description
This lecture will look at why law and justice cannot be divorced and yet remain forever at a distance from one another.

About this Event

It seems obvious that law is different from justice, and yet the claim to be doing justice is one which legal systems cannot avoid making. Legal positivism attempted to excise this claim from the analysis of law but paid too high a price for doing so. This lecture looks at how thinking about law's connections with justice offers critical resources for insight into how legal systems work.
