Join us for the first in our three part webinar series on building food sovereignty in the UK!
About this event
Welcome to the first episode in a three part webinar series hosted by Food In Our Hands, exploring how we can build the food sovereignty movement in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
We will be tackling topics like: What exactly is food sovereignty, and how does it connect to land justice? What is wrong with our current food system, and how does oppression play into it? And, finally, how can food sovereignty provide the future we need, particularly in light of the climate crisis?
We will be joined by speakers from Shared Assets, This is Rubbish and Youth FLAME, including...
- Dee Woods, an international activist, award-winning cook and food justice advocate with decades of experience campaigning towards just food systems both in the UK and beyond.
- Harry Morgan, a campaigner, food systems researcher and chef coordinating This Is Rubbish’s campaign Plenty to Share, which is building a movement in the UK to bring an end to food waste and food poverty.
- Noah Cole, a member of Youth in Farming, Land and Agriculture: A Movement for Equality (FLAME), and a student at the University of Bristol studying an MSc in climate change and environmental policy.
This episode will give you a solid understanding of what the core problems are with our social and food systems, and what we can do about them through the lens of food sovereignty.
Food In Our Hands is hosting this summer webinar series to explore key issues in the world of UK food sovereignty in the lead up to the national People's Food Summit in September, hosted by the Landworkers' Alliance and Food In Our Hands.
Our next episodes will explore how to campaign towards food justice and how to decolonise the UK food system. You can find them here.
