Women are disproportionately affected by the climate crisis. They are also leading the way as the most active and effective agents and campaigners of action against the environmental challenges we all face.

Join us for a panel discussing the need for centring gender equality in global climate responses,  why it is essential that everyone is represented at the decision-making table and how elevating women's rights may be the single greatest action to tackle the planetary emergency. You will have the opportunity to ask the panelists questions in an interactive session following the main discussion.

Meet the Speakers

Laura Verónica Muñoz is an ecofeminist climate activist and audiovisual communicator from Colombia. She is part of Fridays For Future, Pacto X El Clima, and Unite For Climate Action, and works in Grow Ahead supporting community-led agroforestry projects. She believes that to achieve climate justice it’s needed to create safe spaces where diversity is the foundation and decoloniality is the path we tread. Nowadays, she's studying Education, Gender and International Development MA.

Jasmine Isa Quershi is a queer writer, journalist, until recently a researcher for the BBC Natural History Unit and BBC Earth, wildlife film-maker, ambassador for the Bumblebee Conservation Trust, engagement officer for the youth led nature organisation A Focus On Nature, activist and marine biology graduate. As a speaker and journalist she is also passionate about topics such as diversity, political agenda, sexuality, identity and gender, particularly trans rights and understanding; contributing to magazines, blogs and events around the country, and as a presenter they have been involved with CBeebies and Edinburgh Science Festival.

Bella Zanin is a climate activist and Dais speaker for the youth non-profit Force of Nature. She is passionate about climate solutions, climate communication and environmental justice. Alongside studying for her master’s in sustainable development, she has worked as a content creator in the renewable energy sector. With Force of Nature, Bella delivered a successful stakeholder engagement campaign centred around climate emotions at the 2021 United Nations Climate Conference (COP26).
