, an online marketplace for students to book accommodations from thousands of verified properties, based in Lisbon. After launching in 2013, Uniplaces raised a $24m Series A round in November 2016, from investors including Octopus Investments, and the CEO of Zoopla & former CEO of LOVEFiLM.
Simon is Portfolio Manager at Octopus Ventures, a leading European VC headquatered in London who invest between £250,000 and £25m per round, with exits including Magic Pony, recently purchased by twitter, and investments incuding Zoopla, Secret Escapes and Graze.com.
Previously Executive Director from 2010 - 2015 at AICEP, Portugal's Global Trade & Investment Agency, Miguel now heads up Startup Lisboa, an incubator founded in 2011 to help entrepreneurs and companies to develop their businesses.
Faber Ventures are a Lisbon based VC fund investing from concept stage to scale stage in promising technology companies. Ricardo heads up their London presence, making him a unique authority on the bridges that exist and can be built between London and Lisbon.

Pedro is the President and CEO of Beta-i, an organization dedicated at helping startups succeed and boosting entrepreneurial ecosystems based in Lisbon.He is co-founder of Startup Portugal and a member of APBA – Portuguese Business Angel Association, where he was an Executive Board Member for three years.Pedro hosts and mentors SeedCamp Lisbon, facilitates and co-directs Startup Weekend Lisbon, and was the co-director and mentor of the 1st Founder Institute Lisbon, in addition to several other mentoring initiatives.
Mike Harvey, head of strategic communications - Web Summit
Mike runs communications and content for Web Summit and its other events around the world. A former journalist, he has been part of the Web Summit team for 18 months. He worked as a reporter, editor and technology correspondent for The Times before joining Google as their head of European comms. He gained further experience in PR as director of a London-based agency for three years before moving to Dublin in 2015. While at The Times, he introduced Sudoku to the planet.
Pedro is a Lisbon native and cofounder of Landing hobs, the candidate-driven tech jobs marketplace matchmaking great talent withgreat opportunities. Pedro lives in London whilst running a pan-European team, including a development team in Lisbon. He also runs Landing Jobs Festival in Lisbon.
Alex is a London-based entrepreneur and angel investor and in Internet, media, and consumer markets. He peviously cofounded GoIndustry plc, an online industrial auctions firm which he and the team IPO'd in 2006. Hoye invested in Seedcamp and is chairman of Skimlinks and BraveNewTalent.
Today, alongside co-founder Tony McWilliam, Alex is building Faction Skis and Apparel into a disruptive global leader in snowsports and lifestyle. He also likes collaborating with and building communities, and to that end co-founded co-working space Runway East. He also chairs a thriving group of active founders and ecosystem supporters driving change in the new industrial revolution called ICE, and is listed as one of GQ's '100 most connected'.
