About this Event

Technology is the doorway to any sector: it's creative , social and ever evolving. It provides a wealth of opportunities for those that work in it, but making the move into tech can be daunting. _nology is dedicated to transforming tech by providing the skills, space, support and inspiration for women to become world class developers and love what they do.

That’s why _nology have curated this hour-long webinar, to give you an overview of the tech sector, the qualities you need to thrive, and the misconceptions so many women have about them. We explore the current climate and opportunities, what life is like on the _nology Software Developer Course, where it can take you and why the tech sector is crying out for more female developers

Who will be talking?

The webinar will be hosted by Amy Golding, CEO of Opus Talent Solutions and _nology and the UK's youngest female CEO. Amy will share insights about the UK tech skills shortage and the future of the tech sector and facilitate an interactive panel discussion around why there is a gender imbalance in tech and the reality of being a female leader.

Nicole Hardiman - IT Engineering Manager at Nationwide and Co-Founder of Swindon D&I Network: Hear from one of _nology’s hiring partners about why software skills are invaluable, the types of roles they facilitate and the collaboration between the software team and the rest of the business. They'll share the reasons that they want more women in their tech teams, and what they are doing to not only facilitate it, but ensure females thrive!

We will also be joined by a number of female _nology graduates, who made the courageous leap to learn to code and start a career in tech.

Bex Fennelly: Before joining _nology, Bex was a dancer and actress who had no coding skills. She is now working remotely from her home in Italy as a Tech Trainer with _nology!

Sev Legon: Sev graduated from a Psychology degree in 2019 and decided to take some time out to go travelling. When Coronavirus cut her travels short, she started learning to code and is now working in a Fintech start-up.

Sophie Szathmary-Dixon: After spending a few years working in a non-tech role in a tech company, Sophie became curious about software development and decided to launch a career in coding for herself.

We will also be joined by Ollie Holden, Senior Software Coach at _nology. By drawing on his experience of helping others to launch their careers in coding, Ollie will offer an insight into how you can become a software developer.

Even though the focus of the webinar is about women in tech, anyone is welcome to join!

The webinar will be taking place via Google meet - you will receive the link once you register.
