Bloomsbury Humanitarian Debate: Why should the World Humanitarian Summit focus on evidence-based approaches?

In Istanbul on 23 and 24 May, the first World Humanitarian Summit will take place. The main actors from the humanitarian sector will gather to discuss the future of humanitarism, mainly because the protracted crisis in Syria has in a way shaken how humanitarian interventions should be delivered.

Evidence has however not been a strong priority during the preparation of the Summit. At the beginning of 2016, over 20 organisations across the world decided to join forces and raise attention to the challenges around the production, access and use of evidence, and created the Evidence Lounge.
