Event description
Professor Sir Chris Ham explores systems leadership and the NHS as part of the Centre for Health and Social Care Leadership seminar series

About this Event

In this third lecture from the University of Birmingham Centre for Health and Social Care Leadership, Professor Sir Chris Ham will argue that systems hold the future for the NHS and its partners. Drawing on research into the experience of sustainability and transformation partnerships (STPs) and integrated care systems (ICSs), he will outline how the most advanced systems are developing, and the way in which leaders are beginning to work across organisational and service boundaries. He will also describe what needs to be done by national bodies to remove obstacles to system working and enable the NHS in England to establish ICSs in all areas by 2021. Systems are essential if integrated care and population health are to receive the priority set out in the NHS long term plan and require NHS leaders to work much more closely with leaders in local government and the third sector.

Refreshments will be available from 16.30-17.00 before the lecture starts at 17.00.
