Event description
Our relationship with food, body image and why we eat.

About this Event

It may be said that our relationship with food, eating and our bodies can be illustrative of our relationships with ourselves and others, and how we live in the world. In this talk Dr Sharon Cox will help us explore our own relationship with food and why we eat.

Western culture focuses heavily on the aesthetic appearance of our bodies, which can lead to manipulating our appetite and body in an attempt to achieve often impossible cultural standards.

Following her own experience with anorexia and bulimia Sharon has developed a particular interest in the relationships we develop with food, eating and our bodies, and gained her Phd in 2017 following research into the therapist’s experience of clients experiencing eating disorders.

More recently, recognising yoga’s role in improving the individual’s connection with their body and embodied experience, especially for people experiencing eating / body image issues, Sharon trained as a yoga teacher.

This engaging talk will last about 25 mins, followed by questions.

Includes a glass of wine, beer or soft drink.

Over 16 years only please. Not For Profit. Ideal to come to on your own too.
