Why You Can’t Rest (Even When You Know You Need To) — and How to Start
A masterclass for high-achieving humans who are tired of being tired, and ready to reclaim rest and energy
You know you should rest. You want to slow down, take a breath, stop pushing for a moment.
But somehow… You. Just. Can’t: You feel restless when you pause, guilty when you switch off or anxious when you’re not “being productive.”
If that sounds familiar, this 60-minute masterclass with work/play coach Dr Jamie Pei and occupational therapist and mental health expert Zoe Fuggle will help you understand why rest can feel so hard, and how to begin making it feel safe, doable and deeply restorative again.
We’ll be offering a safe, cosy space for a grounded, compassionate exploration of how your brain, body and conditioning shape your relationship with rest, and how to begin gently reintroducing rest into your days without having to massively overhaul your work or life.
In this session, you’ll:
- Discover what’s really happening in your brain and body when you rest, and why it sometimes feels “unsafe” to stop
- Explore the hidden fears, beliefs and social, cultural messages that keep you stuck in overwork, overwhelm and burnout.
- Learn small but impactful, practical ways to build micro moments of rest into your day
- Experiment with “rest snacks”: quick, nourishing breaks that restore energy and ease
- Leave with a clear understanding of what your version of rest can look like and how to start enjoying it in ways that will feel safe and energising for you.
You’ll leave not only with deeper insight into what rest means for you, but with real tools to bring rest and energy back into your life - no guilt or overwhelm.
(We've planned the workshop over lunchtime, so you can consider this nourishing restful break too! Join us with your lunch, a hot brew, a lie-down on your sofa, whatever feels good!)
