About this event

Other

Whether your spouse or partner died recently or some time ago, one of the most positive things you can do is to create some time and space just for you. Many have found our Widowed Young Support Weekends allow them to do just this.

From the moment you arrive you are in the company of others who have all experienced first-hand the pain of losing a partner. It is a safe place to share honestly and openly, as much or as little as you feel able.

Over the weekend there will be opportunities to listen to practical suggestions about how to live through bereavement and loss, including sessions on:

  • Responding to feelings of guilt, anger and despair
  • Strategies to help overcome the pain of loss and shattered dreams
  • Comfort, hope and finding a way forward
  • Practical ideas to help us cope in the tough times
  • Supporting our children through their personal loss
  • Thinking about a new relationship
  • The different issues faced by men and women

There will also be time to rest and relax, and a chance to have some social time together.

Our weekends take place in a welcoming and peaceful setting – the ideal place to offer you comfort and reassurance, no matter where you are on your bereavement journey. We have sole use of the venue, all accommodation is en-suite and full board is included in the price. For more information about the venue, please visit the venue website.

By committing to a weekend away, many have found that they have time to explore their feelings of sadness and loss, seek help and be supported by those who understand, renew their strength and find hope. It is also an opportunity to form caring friendships with people you could turn to for understanding and support in the future.

I will be hosting this event, along with a dedicated team of befrienders who have all experienced the loss of a partner early in life. We also have a Care for the Family counsellor with us all weekend, who is experienced in bereavement support and is available for one-to-one sessions.

Further information

Widowed Young Support events are available to anybody who has lost a partner up to and including the age of fifty – or older if you still have dependent children.

If you can afford to pay for a ticket, please go ahead and book. If that isn’t possible at the moment, please email our Widowed Young Support Coordinator Danielle Patton on the email above, as we may be able to help you. We never want money to be the reason you are unable to access our resources and support.

We regret that it is not generally possible to provide refunds, due to our financial commitment to the venue.
