EAL: Assessing and Monitoring Progress

Please note: This training course is for Wigan school and nursery staff working within Locality 3 (Leigh, Atherton, Tyldesley, Astley, Mosley Common, Golborne, Lowton).

This training session has been organised by Wigan EMAS and may be of interest to staff working within Wigan schools and nurseries who are looking for more information on using the NASSEA EAL Assessment Framework for EAL pupils.
The aims of this session are for you to:
- Become more familiar with the layout and terminology used in the new framework
- Understand how and why we assess progress in EAL and to consider how the framework can be used in school
- Become prepared and confident enough to use the framework in school
- Gain confidence in assigning a pupil a DfE Proficiency in English Scale judgement
