Meeting The Needs Of EAL Learners & Their Families

Please note: This training course is for Wigan school staff working within Locality 3 (Leigh, Atherton, Tyldesley, Astley, Mosley Common, Golborne, Lowton).

This training session has been organised by Wigan EMAS and may be of interest to staff working with Years 1 - 6 within Wigan schools who are looking for guidance on how best to support EAL pupils in school.
The aims of this session are for you to:
- Recognise the importance of a structured induction process and a welcoming environment for newly arrived pupils and their families
- Develop an understanding of EAL pedagogy and how best to support language acquisition
- Explore ways of tracking the progress of bilingual learners, in the early stages and beyond
- Consider ways of making the school inclusive for EAL pupils and parents.
