Event Details

A special blend of three healing and fun activities, foraging and partner yoga and connection meditations.  All these activities will be woven together into a single magical afternoon together, as we work with the related themes of being held, being nurtured, trust, surrender and connection.

We both look forward to seeing you on Sunday 15th on the Heath.

Wild Food Forage Walking

While we forage, we will include the themes of being held, being nurtured, trust, surrender and connection.  Through the discovery and tasting of edible wild leaves, shoots, seeds and even fruits that naturally grow on the Heath, we will deepen our relationship with the land.

During the walk we will sample and learn to identify several edible plants, discover the wild foods available at this time of year, discuss recipes, and be inspired to forage more, and have fun as a group.

(NB.  To respect the land, and as there will be a large group of us, we will not be gathering large quantities for later use, during the walk.  Instead we hope that afterwards, you will be able to identify plants to forage, when you are next walking in nature.)

Partner Yoga, and Connection Meditations

While we practice the yoga and meditations, we will also include these same themes of being held, being nurtured, trust, surrender and connection.  Through some simple partner and group yoga, and connectedness meditations, we will enrich our relationships with each other.

The partner and group yoga and meditations will be suitable for everybody, including those new to yoga or with more experience, and we will work together so that you are welcome to either come on your own, or bring a friend too.

The yoga will be fun to practice - it will include elements from traditional yoga - and with a focus on being more on present and enjoying our own bodies, our relationships with each other and the whole group.  So that no prior yoga knowledge will be needed.

Meeting Point

We will meet on Hampstead Heath, at Parliament Hill Fields, just at the entrance to the Heath off Highgate Road, and opposite from St Alban’s Road.

We’ll start to gather from 1.45pm onwards, in a group on the grass next to the bowling club and children’s play area, and get started at 2pm with some warming-up exercises ready for the afternoon.  At approximately 2.30pm we will start our walk into the Heath to forage.  When you book, we will send you our mobile phone numbers in case you can’t find us, or if you are running late.

The nearest tube station is Kentish Town on the Northern Line, which is running normally on Sunday 15th, and then walk or take buses C2 or 214 to Parliament Hill Fields stop GH.  Gospel Oak overground station is closer to walk from, but there is a replacement bus service running on the overground on Sunday 15th, so you may need to allow extra time if you come this way.

We are asking for a contribution of £18 per adult, for the afternoon.  Some concession places are available for £16.  Children of school age can come for half price.  (Please contact us if you wish to pay the concessionary or children’s rates.)

Please book and pay for your places in advance using the following link.  As numbers are limited, we expect to be fully booked before the day.

What to Bring

As the weather can be changeable, please bring footwear that can cope with a little mud, comfortable clothes to allow you to stretch with the yoga, a few layers or a jumper to keep warm, and a waterproof jacket just in case.  As we will be out for several hours, please do have a light meal before we start, and bring a bottle of water with you too.

About Us

Everything we cover during our foraging walk will be based on Adam's experience of foraging in North London for several years, learning from experts and a professional forager, as well as reference books, and his experiences (mostly good!) with adding wild foods into his diet.

Ieva will bring her expertise in Partner and Community Yoga, and interconnectedness meditations.  Ieva is an Ecstatic Dance facilitator and Partner, Community and Family Yoga teacher. She thinks that life is so wonderful and so much more when shared with other people, when joyous, creative, ecstatic and wild nature is expressed through body movement. Her background is in Psychology, Transpersonal Counselling and Social Work. Ieva incorporates her academic and esoteric knowledge and creates symbolic fun happenings to support individuals to open up to the wonder of this wonderful life!

We both look forward to seeing you on Sunday 15th on the Heath.

About Ieva:

Ieva is a Partner and Community Yoga teacher, and Ecstatic Dance facilitator. Her background is in Social Work, Psychology, and Transpersonal Counselling. She began to practise yoga over 7 years ago. She was always drawn to new, interactive and dynamic types of yoga such as Partner Yoga, Acro Yoga, Shakti Dance etc.

She basically thinks that life is so wonderful and much more so when shared with another human being, which is why all of her classes are taught in a circle where one can see everyone and one can be seen by all. Ieva encourages touch, verbal and non-verbal communication and laughter, using Human Mandala, Human Wave, Partner Yoga, Yoga games and icebreakers for children and adults, Thai Massage and Ecstatic Dance. She loves to convey different themes during the class such as trust, communication etc, for students to experience it kinaesthetically as well as mindfully, emotionally and spiritually.

Ieva gained her 280 hours yoga teacher qualification with Gopala Amir Yaffe from Rainbow Kids Yoga, and Francoise Freedman from Birthlight. It was an all rounded, yoga teacher training aiming at different communities at different times in their lives. The training included Partner, Community and Family Yoga, Well Women, Post- and Prenatal Yoga, Parent and Baby, Toddler’s, Kids and Teens Yoga.

In 2011 she has also completed Ecstatic Trance Dance training with Amoda Maa Jeevan and Beckie Hanscombe.
