Event description
An introduction to foraging wild plants and their culinary and medicinal uses

About this event

Many of our common wild plants have culinary and medicinal uses. Join us at a one-hour (multiple start times available), hands-on workshop focusing on how to identify and safely forage a variety of plants.

Taking a steady walk around 'The Plot' - our 1 acre community site comprising mature woodland, tree nursery, mini-orchard, nature pond and food growing area - we will highlight the native species growing there and discuss their culinary and medicinal value to humans, as well as their importance for wildlife.

Participants may wish to bring their own drink, as no refreshments are provided at these shorter workshops.

Please bear in mind that the site is a working allotment and woodland area, which includes some narrow paths and uneven ground. Down to Earth Hull is keen to welcome people of all abilities to the site but is conscious that parts of the site are not accessible to all, so anyone with mobility issues or related health conditions is advised to contact us in advance for a friendly chat about how we can best accommodate your needs.

Although this is an outdoor event and after the expected end of the COVID-19 roadmap, in order to ensure participants’ safety Down to Earth Hull is adhering to the Government coronavirus guidelines. This includes restricting numbers of attendees at sessions and ensuring appropriate physical distancing during activities, along with appropriate handwashing. You may also wish to bring your own mask.

Please do not bring along additional people (including children) who do not have tickets, as this can compromise the coronavirus safety measures we have put in place.

For any specific questions about the workshop, or for any general enquiries about Down to Earth Hull, please e-mail down-2-earth@outlook.com or call Karen on 07531 191867 for a friendly chat.
