Event description
Sci-Fi & Fantasy short films from around the world... and maybe beyond. Includes a number of awards and a collection of awesome short films.

About this Event

2021... The Festival Is Bigger. More Prizes. More Films. And there are already some great films.

On "May the 4th" (be with you)... the film festival opened for entries for 2021. News has and will be added through the year, mainly via our Facebook page. The event screening is currently planned for 6th March, 2021 at the Greenwich Odeon, London. That date is under constant review due to current Corona virus measures. Your tickets, when purchased, will be good for the festival date (even if we have to do last minute changes). If we have to change and you can't make it, a full refund will be given.

Tickets for the event are going to be very limited and allocated carefully by the events team due to a socially distanced seating plan. Sorry we can't let you pick your own seats, we have very specific guidance to follow. You may book in family groups/bubbles of up to 6 individuals. So get in quick.

The first Wild Indie Sci-Fi and Fantasy Film Festival was hosted at the Greenwich Odeon Theatre in London, with the event prizes sponsored by Foundry (the DVFX software wizards), and Stan Winston School of Character Arts (the Physical VFX wizards) and included the Micro 2 minute Sci-Fi Challenge in collaboration with London Short Film. There were a number of challenges, awards and prizes for Micro (2min), Mini (5min), and Short (20min) film categories within the genre. It was a lot of fun.

Now... Same Venue... But We Have More Awards... And More Fun... For Both Filmmaker And Audience Alike.

We are also going to be taking a version of the festival online to ensure a wider audience in these strange times and to ensure at least some networking opportunities for the filmmakers during our socially distanced present. It will be hard to repeat the social gathering after the event that would normally occur. So viability for a networking App is being examined.

On that note... we all know that we are living through strange times with the Corona Virus and CoVid19 lockdowns. We hope you all keep Hale and Hearty. We wont bore you with detailed arrangements other than reiterate that we have the 6th March for the 2021 festival screening date at the Greenwich Odeon Theatre again (with all it's Covid safety measures in place). We have Screen 9 secured, the largest screen at the venue. BUT... we have contingencies in place should our current lockdowns be extended.

The festival will now include additional awards for Best Director/Direction, Best Actor, Best Screenplay.

To answer a question asked all the time. Yes HORROR is included so the safest guidance for certification is 18+.

The genre is Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Horror. So that's anything aliens, weird tech, dragons, superheroes, A.I., manmade monsters, dystopian futures, bizarre pasts, time travel, and just about anything a bit odd that might fit. Originality will be preferred but “Fan Films” are welcome (and there's some damn good ones), although please note, we must adhere to copyright guidelines and restrictions of the original IP owners.

Other genres and elements such as comedy or romance, etc may all feature but there will be a significant portion of the story as the festival main themes.

Once again: The opening date for entries is 4th May 2020.. The closing date is 15th January, 2021. Screenings of entries is currently planned for 6th March, 2021 at the Greenwich Odeon.

Come along, get out of the house, have some socially distanced fun at the cinema.

Prize Sponsors:

We are happy to confirm that Foundry, and Stan Winston School of Character Arts, and Final Draft are prize sponsoring again in 2021. We would also like to welcome Crixus Studios as additional prize sponsors providing studio time for film-makers as prizes. And... Aputure, the lighting company, have also recently prize sponsored us and are providing a cracking prize in the form of a travel lighting kit. More details are on the Facebook page. Additionally, Final Draft have also offered an extra prize of a copy of their amazing Final Draft 11 writing software for the winning prize of a NEW category for best script/screenplay.

This event is completely independent of Wild Indie's production.
