Event description

Description

This December we welcome a family of goats from a local city farm to Farmopolis. Goats are notoriously nimble and have the ability to climb and leap great distances – so we’ll be keeping an eye on this lot! For the two hour session we will meet our hooved stars – both regular and pygmy – and learn all about goats, their lives on the farm and in the wild. The session will start with a few fun drawing exercises to get everyone warmed up, then illustrator Jennie Webber will lead you through longer studies focussing on different features of the goats. We welcome all ages and abilities for the chance to sketch the goats with different materials, including inks, pastels and charcoal, and to explore conservation and welfare issues affecting the species. And there will be a chance to pet and feed the goats at the end of the drawing session! Drawing tips and one-to-one guidance will be provided throughout.

More info on Wild Life Drawing

Wild Life Drawing is a drawing class with a difference. Instead of human life models, our subjects are real animals. The drawing classes are open to all, from beginners to advanced. Their aim is to inspire a sense of appreciation and understanding for the animals, as well as communicating conservation and welfare issues around the globe.

Wild Life Drawing works only with the finest animal handlers, charities and organisations to put on these events. All the animals that attend the sessions are well used to humans and different environments and are always accompanied by experienced handlers, their welfare is our highest priority. A proportion of the ticket sales goes directly to the animal handlers, which is put towards their continued hard work for the conservation and protection of the animals and to care for additional rescue animals and the rehoming of unwanted or mistreated pets.

Education is a primary focus of Wild Life Drawing. The classes always commence with an in-depth introduction from the animal handlers so as well as drawing the animals, the group learns about their origin, characteristics, lives in the wild and any conservation or animal welfare issues affecting that species. The classes are lead in a relaxed fashion, with help and advice on hand if needed. Paper and other drawing materials are provided, but attendees are encouraged to bring additional media and colour. All art materials used at the class are environmentally friendly and the paper provided is FSC certified and suitable for vegans.

This project was founded by Jennie Webber, a London-based visual artist, educator and animal lover. Wild Life Drawing aims to reconnect those living in cities with the wonder of nature through creativity, in the hope that it will encourage more people to protect our planet and it's animals.

Tickets are non-refundable but can be transferred to a different name. If you have any questions, please email info@wildlifedrawing.co.uk
