Wild Service Festival: SCRAP TALKS: Dom Barry – Creating Trash Free Trails
In this SCRAP Talk Dom Barry of Trash Free Trails will delve into their A-TEAM’s pioneering work and share the shocking science about the trash they’ve collected in the attempt to protect beloved outdoor spaces from single-use pollution.
Dom Barry is a longstanding member of the dynamic Trash Free Trails A-TEAM, national and international Ambassadors helping communities protect their bike trails and beloved outdoor spaces from single-use pollution (SUP).
Trash Free Trails (TFT) is a unique not-for-profit organisation that’s on a mission to (re)connect people with nature through the simple yet meaningful act of removing trash from places they love. He will delve into the A-TEAM’s pioneering work and share the shocking science about the trash they’ve collected. As of April 2025 their community has removed and surveyed over 400,000 items of pollution from trail ecosystems, enabling over 5,000 people to connect with wild places. Their unique ‘State of Our Trails Report’ is a leading UK study on the levels of SUP on recreational trails. TFT works across conservation, education, events and research, and lobbies big brands and politicians to introduce a UK Deposit Return Scheme (DRS).
Dom much prefers to be on two wheels wherever he goes, gravel, road or loam, but will take what he can get, revelling in the joy of it all! When he’s not on two wheels, he’s sliding his surfboard into the back of his van and trading the trails for the beach in search of waves.

This event is part of the Wild Service Festival, a combination of free and paid events encompassing visual poetry, music, spoken word, talks, and workshops, the Wild Service Festival celebrates the creative and practical ways we can simultaneously reconnect with and become better guardians of nature, while improving our well-being through the power of participation.
Britain ranks last in Europe on biodiversity, wellbeing, and nature connectedness. Nature is suffering, and so are we. ‘Wild Service’ – the visionary concept and book crafted by the Right to Roam campaign – argues that humanity’s loss and nature’s need are two sides of the same story. It calls for mass reconnection to the land and a commitment to its restoration.
