About this event

  • Event lasts 6 hours

Crazywell pool is steeped in Dartmoor myth and legend, despite being one of the largest on the moor, it is hidden from view until you are almost in it. This circular walk will take you to the pool via the beatiful Devonport Leat, an impressive aquaduct and if we are feeling brave the elusive Cramber Tor which on a good day has views to Plymouth Sound and across Burrator Reservoir.

Once at Crazywell Pool there will be the opportunity for a dip or swim, depending on what you fancy. The pool itself is 100 meters long so lenghts are even a possiblity. Once dressed and warmed up we will begin the journey back through the woods and via the stunning Leather Tor Bridge.

This walk will be fully guided by Cathy, a highly expereinced Mountain Leader and Wild Swimmer. She will ensure you have a safe and enjoyable day. It is essential that you have previous experience of wild swimming/swimming in cold water as Crazywell pool is a remote location. If you have questions before booking please get in touch.

This walk gives a real variety of stunning landscapes as well as a real wild swimming gem in Crazywell pool. We will be walking as a group and therefore altering the pace to suit everyone and taking breaks for rests, photographs, lunch and snacks at regular intervals.

Parking is in a car park between Yelverton and Princetown and an exact What3words location will be provided on booking.
