This circular route takes in some of the best coastal views of Devon and Cornwall as well as the opportunity for two swims, one at the secluded beach at Penlee Point and the other off Cawsand beach at the end of the walk. The walk itself is primarily on coastal path with only a short inland section. The views are stunning and stretch to Dartmoor, over Plymouth, to the Eddystone lighthouse, the Mewstone and along the Cornish coast including Whitsand Bay. We visit the fascinating grotto at Penlee point and the old chapel right on the top of Rame Head.
This walk will be fully guided by Cathy, a highly expereinced Mountain Leader and Wild Swimmer. She will ensure you have a safe and enjoyable day. It is essential that you have previous experience of wild swimming/swimming in cold water as this walk visits some remote locations. If you have questions before booking please get in touch.
This walk follows the coastal path with uphill and downhill sections. It is mostly a good path but can be muddy in places. The access to the beach is over open ground, down some steps and easily over the rocks. We will be walking as a group and therefore altering the pace to suit everyone and taking breaks for rests, photographs, lunch and snacks at regular intervals.
Parking is in the car park at Cawsands, it is also possible to get a ferry to Cawsand from Plymouth and an exact What3words location for meeting will be provided on booking.
