About this event

Wild Tolworth Project Talk

Discover the recent restoration work, from the installation of stock fencing to the creation of new wetlands, and hear about the exciting next steps in the Wild Tolworth Project.

We’ll share future plans, including the introduction of cattle and pigs to the site, and show how these changes will help restore and enrich local wildlife habitats. You’ll also learn how you can get involved directly, whether by becoming a Wild Guardian volunteer or supporting the project in other ways.

This exciting project has been made possible through our collaboration with Community Brain and Kingston Council.

About the site

2025 is set to be a momentous year for this sprawling 42-hectare mosaic of grazed and ungrazed pastures, ancient hedgerows and small copses. With a history stretching all the way back to the days of the Domesday Book, we hope this site will soon be as rich in wildlife as it is steeped in culture and history.

The site hosts an amazing variety of wildlife from the diversity of grassland species typical of former hay meadows to the numerous bird species inhabiting the edges of marginal habitats and the riparian habitats of the Bonesgate Stream, to species of special significance to the site such as the Meadow Brown butterfly.
