Event description

Description

Throughout history adventurous women have made epic journeys across the globe in order to expand their horizons. From Mary Wollstonecraft, who set off with a baby and nanny in a boat to explore the coast of Scandinavia in 1796, to Juanita Harrison, the 16 year old African American who embarked on a self-funded world tour in 1907, we have vivid accounts of the worlds they discovered.

Wild Women - a collection the greatest women’s travel writing - has been curated by Mariella Frostrup, the broadcaster and journalist, who is conversation with one of the adventurous contributors, the travel writer Catherine Fairweather.

“required reading for anyone who assumed that “the road less travelled” was a solely masculine preserve.” Hilary A. White
