About this event
Wild Women is a community built by you and for you. It will be shaped by what serves the group and will provide a safe space for you to give and receive what you need.
Each month there will be a mixture of nature and wellbeing activities based in the Hive grounds and Epping Forest. For example:
- Gather around the campfire for a cuppa and a chat
- Share simple crafts and learn new skills
- Explore mindfulness practices and find what works for you
- Look after your body with gentle exercises and walks in the woods
- Bookclub discussions
- Community cooking (and eating!)
- *Support for moving through menopause more smoothly
Sessions will be facilitated by our qualified Wilderness Therapeutic Practitioner, who is passionate about bringing the benefits of nature to all ages. While this is not therapy, you will be well supported.
*The group is for all women at all stages, but we recognise that some periods of life can be more challenging than others. We particularly encourage those moving through menopause or other stressful times. Activities will be specially chosen to empower, inspire and nurture you.
Frequently asked questions
We warmly welcome cis and trans women, non-binary, intersex, and genderqueer people who resonate with the themes of this group. If you’re unsure whether this space is right for you or you have any accessibility requirements, feel free to reach out.
This is aimed at adults and is not suitable for children. However, you can bring your baby. If you believe your teen would benefit from participating, you will need to accompany them.
Initially, this will be monthly but if interest picks up, we may add more sessions. Please check the upcoming dates on the Agenda section.
Please check the forecast and dress for the weather. We are experienced in outdoor activities and will adapt sessions to the seasons. We have indoor spaces for extreme conditions but prefer to be outside!
Our site has hard-surfaced paths and accessible toilets but the forest does not. Please discuss any accessibility requirements with us and we will endeavor to accommodate you.
We have toilets, including accessible and baby change on site. We will provide hot drinks and can refill water bottles but there is no cafe or shop.
We are 3km from the nearest train and bus station at Chingford. Car parking is free but limited. (Please park in the red or white bays.) If you are attending with a friend, perhaps you can car share and save the environment too! We also have bike racks, for a greener ride.
Depending on season: layers of clothing for when the temperature falls, walking boots or wellies in wet conditions, sunhat or warm hat, sun cream and insect repellant in warm months, flask or water bottle, any food or snacks you may want for yourself or to share. Please note: we are a nut free site.
We will be adjusting the timings according to sunset times and season.
1) If you cancel with more than 7 days’ notice, we can arrange a refund (minus the booking fee), or exchange event (subject to availability). Please note, if you cancel within 7 days of the event, you will be charged in full. 2) If we cancel, you will be offered a refund, credit or exchange event.
