Event description
A wildcrafting adventure walk discovering what you can see, eat, drink and craft with, followed by a wild tea and tasting session.

About this event

Join wildcrafting artist, Lora Aziz on a walk around Wat Tyler country park to discover what lays in the hedgerow, and along the estuary waters. Look at edible and craft suitable plants from uses of wild roses, hawthorn blossoms, elderflowers, mallow, clovers.... the list goes on!

In collaboration with plant chef and fellow artist Marley, some of what you find on route will be transformed into delicious snacks for you to try in a cosy and wild setting!

Wildcrafting is the practice of harvesting plants from their natural, or 'wild' habitat, for food, medicinal and crafting purposes. Join us on an adventure, discovering what we can see, eat, drink and craft with from a walk around Wat Tyler followed by a wild tea and tasting session.

Organiser Estuary 2021

Organiser of Wildcrafting adventure: Consumable Art

Estuary 2021 is the second edition of the large-scale arts festival that celebrates the lives, landscapes and histories of the spectacular Thames Estuary.

A mix of large scale and intimate visual art, literature, music and film, the festival celebrates culture, creativity, recovery and renewal. Alongside an online discussion and events programme, the physical programme will explore and respond to powerful themes resonant to the Estuary, from the climate, to rebellion and imperial legacy. Re-framed in light of Covid-19, the festival invites visitors to take an epic walk along the stunning coastline of South Essex and North Kent encountering contemporary artworks and performance within the estuary landscape, historic sites and coastal towns.

Estuary 2021 is led by a partnership between estuary-based arts organisations, Metal (South Essex) and Cement Fields (North Kent).
