Join the Suffolk Wildlife Trust team of wildlife advisers and habitat experts; experienced community groups and other hands-on nature activists in Suffolk communities for a day of walks, talks and workshops.

This Wilder Communities Day has been set-up to support local community groups, parish councils, churches and green protagonists to take action for wildlife, to support one another and to work together to support wildlife.

Suffolk Wildlife Trust’s Wider Landscapes team of conservation advisers has visited hundreds of local community projects over the years, as well as private nature reserves, county wildlife sites, schools and churchyards and we’re keen to share the wealth of knowledge and experience with you so that you can take valuable information and ideas back to your own communities.

The Trust is committed to supporting individual landowners and groups alike through its habitat advice, species surveying and advocacy. Its Engagement Team works with schools and groups to inspire the next generation and its Reserves Teams work tirelessly to manage habitat for wildlife on 50 nature reserves in the county.

Similarly, the numerous communities we've worked with in Suffolk have been successful in creating, restoring and managing acres of valuable habitat for wildlife.

It is by us each working together that we can truly make a difference for nature. During this Wilder Communities Day, we will be encouraging everyone to share their experiences and showcase their success stories, so that we can all learn from one another and leave with ideas and inspiration that we can share with our own communities and neighbours.

We’re working together with The Food Museum, which is dedicated to connecting people with where their food comes from and the impact of our choices on the environment, society, health and wellbeing. The Museum’s Marquee sited in 80-plus acres of countryside, much of it managed with wildlife in mind, provides the perfect venue for a Wilder Communities gathering.

The Wilder Communities Day will be taking place in The Food Museum Marquee and will include representation from some of the key players in conservation and community action in Suffolk; presentations from habitat experts and community groups; and Field Session Guided Walks to investigate habitat.

Refreshments will be provided. Please feel free to bring your own re-usable mug, or a flask.

LUNCH - The Food Museum’s Feast Café is offering a delicious Buffet for £12 per person (Payable on booking).

You will also need:
A packed lunch if not participating in The Food Museum Feast Café Buffet
Notepad and pen
A camera or binoculars if you wish

Please dress suitably for the weather and for the guided walks. We advise you wear long trousers rather than shorts.
