Wilder Humber: pioneering methods to achieve seascape level restoration
Overview
Seagrass, saltmarsh, native oysters, and sand dunes are all incredibly important habitats, but they are rapidly declining in the Humber due to pressures such as climate change, pollution, and human development. Wilder Humber is an innovative project that brings together the restoration of these four habitats, aiming to restore and enrich nearly 40 hectares of the Humber Estuary. We are trialling a number of novel restoration methods to achieve this, including building the UK’s first saltmarsh and sand dune plant nursery in Saltfleet.
