About this event

  • 2 hours

Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve is the first example of a gravel pit site being transformed for nature conservation, and has become an important haven for wildlife in the area.

The Area Warden for Sevenoaks will guide you on a circular route exploring the heart of the reserve, including the former gravel pits and woodland areas, stopping to look at its trees and flowers along the way. They will share fascinating stories about their historical uses, medicinal benefits and mythical properties, along with plenty of hints and tips about safe foraging techniques that minimise the impact on wildlife.

This safari is aimed at an adult audience, 14-17 year olds may attend with an accompanying adult over 18. Hoping to bring the children? Family Wildlife Watch Safaris are available during school holidays, see https://www.kentwildlifetrust.org.uk/safaris for availability.

This safari will last approximately 2 hours and most of the time will be spent walking or standing. Much of the route follows surfaced paths, but these can be muddy. Ensure you wear sturdy footwear (during periods of wet weather waterproof footwear is advisable) and clothing suitable for the weather conditions.

Toilets are available at the Visitor Centre, near the car park. Refreshments are available to purchase on site, you are welcome to bring your own food and drink with you. A bottle of water is recommended.
