Wildflower Quest in Bath

Calling all brave wildflower adventurers in the Bath / Bristol / Somerset area. Join us for a meadow quest across a series of fields in the magical village of Freshford!

This journey will see us wandering through fields spreading wildflower seeds far and wide! Maybe we’ll also stop for some tea and coffee at Ye Olde village cafe on the way.

Who is this for: For young people aged 18-30 interested in spending time outside with other questers and keen to learn about wildflowers and wildflower meadows.

About Nature Chain:

The aim of the Nature Chain Meadows project is to create a wildlife corridor across smallholder farms in the villages of Limpley Stoke and Freshford to enhance and create a greater area of wildlife-rich habitat, particularly wildflower meadows.

Youngwilders have been working with a group of 5 landowners over the last 3 years to develop a best practice management plan for the grassland habitats present in the corridor in order to maximise floral and structural biodiversity. This work has been developed following conversations with farmers, local environmental bodies, and other local projects.

Now we are at a stage where we are starting to deliver parts of the management plan, including introducing locally harvested wildflower seeds across the sites, and managing grazing animals across the sites :) This event is the first youth-led engagement day we'll be running at the site!

What to expect:

We will be walking to five different fields in Freshford. At every field we will sow seeds and stamp them in. There are some quite steep sections so the walk is medium impact. There will be plenty of opportunities for breaks and we will plan the route so that the highest impact sites can be easily skipped out should people wish. As always, everything is optional and we are hoping to rent a space all day so people can rest whenever they want.

Via Train:

Our meeting point in the morning is a 15 minute walk from Freshford train station.

We can offer travel reimbursement so if you can send us receipts or proof of travel payment and your bank details we will reimburse you as soon as possible. Please send reimbursement request to Noah at noah@youngwilders.uk with a pdf attachment.

Via Car:
