WILDWOOD TRAINING, BUSHCRAFT & SURVIVAL SKILLS INSTRUCTION

A DAY OF SPOON-CARVING IN THE WOODS - 8th Dec 2019

  • Come and spend a day in a beautiful woodland, learning how to carve a spoon from fresh green wood, Bushcraft style!

  • Learn how to effectively use sharp tools, including the axe, saw, knife and spoon knife.

  • Discover how to identify the types of timber which best suit the spoon-carver’s needs, and how to harvest it responsibly.

  • A fascinating aspect of Bushcraft & survival is the expert’s ability to utilise the natural materials around them and create what they need using basic tools.

This is the ideal course for people who want to spend time outdoors, relaxing and enjoying some escapism, whilst learning how to create a beautiful and useful item from abundant natural materials. You might be a total beginner or already have a foundation of skills to improve and build upon, either way you’ll reap huge rewards from attending this course!

You will learn highly effective ways of using the tools of Bushcraft; axe, saw, knife and hook-knife. We’ll cover; selecting the raw materials and harvesting suitable pieces of timber, using saws and axes to carve out the spoon blanks, using a variety of knives to create pleasing curves and contours and finishing the spoon ready for use.

Along the way we’ll also cover selecting appropriate tools, maintaining and sharpening your tools, and the safest and most efficient ways to use the tools for carving. You’ll leave with a huge sense of accomplishment and achievement, with a range of highly valuable and practical new skills!
