Willesden Junction - Bleak or Beautiful?
Event Information
About this Event
Rose Rouse has lived in Harlesden for 25 years and in 2014, she published A London Safari - walking adventures in NW10 and in 2019. As part of Brent 2020, she was awarded a grant to create The Willesden Junction Poets.
Over the past year, she gathered together 9 local poets and despite the challenges of 2020, they were able to focus on Brent's landmark station, Willesden Junction and create poems based on this setting. Visits to the station were accompanied by botanist John Wells and railways expert Ian Bull.
The resulting book of poems, BeWILDering, also features illustrations by typewriter artist, Keira Rathbone.
At this talk Rose will tell us about the project and how the different perspectives of the poets allowed the station to unfold in very different ways. The book can be downloaded here.
When you book, you will receive confirmation. The link to join the event will be emailed to you in the 24 hours before the event starts. This event will be delivered on Zoom.
