Description

The Bishop and Archdeacon invite you to join us for our annual envisioning and equipping day for all those involved in Youth and Children’s mission and ministry. There’ll be the usual great mix of worship, networking and engaging seminars and teaching streams aimed at both volunteers and full time workers.

We are delighted to be joined by keynote speaker Annie Wilmot, talking on "Equipping parents to raise God connected children and teens." Annie is the National Parenting for Faith Coordinator at The Bible Reading Fellowship. She was previously a Children and Families Pastor at a church in London and a coach with unemployed young people. She loves the countryside and spends most of her time trying to wear out her energetic toddler in the park!

We are also joined by some brilliant speakers for our seminars. Please choose a seminar in each session when you book your tickets.

Seminar session one:

  2. When should we do the sex talk?’, with Rachel Gardner, Relationship Lead at Youthscape.
    In an age where we’re aware of the potential for Children and young people to come across sexual material, online and through the media, at increasingly younger ages, when do we start talking to them about sex in a way that’s appropriate?

  3. “Involving Children and young people in Church leadership and Worship. with Karen Greenidge, Pastor at Emmanuel Church Southall, and Youth Advocate for Willesden & Nikita Roberts, Youth Apprentice.
    One of the main ways of encouraging children and young people to keep their faith through to adulthood is to involve them in Church ministry. This practical session will look at how you can get children and young people on team in your church setting.

  4. ‘What’s the point of Kids Church?’, with Juz Paice, head of Kids Mission and Ministry, St Peter’s Church.
    How do we create a vision & strategy for Sunday church for children? What are we aiming for? Including practical tips for getting started and for deepening your approach.

Seminar session two:

  1. "The gospel of Mark and making Disciples: How did Jesus do it?" with Jason Gardner, Curate at St Peter’s and Youth Advocate, Willesden.
    As we struggle to make disciples of children and young people in today’s world, what can be learnt from going back to Jesus’ approach in the gospel of Mark?

  2. "Dealing with challenging behaviour", with Dan Burke, Director of Young Harrow Foundation.
    A very practical session on how to deal with difficult, challenging or aggressive behaviour in groups. Looking at scenarios from rowdy 8 year olds in Kids Church through to managing conflict in youth drop ins.

  3. "Youth Work from Scratch" with Jonny Hedges ,Youth Pastor St Paul’s Ealing.
    Want to start or develop youth ministry or youth work at your Church? Working with a small group of volunteers? A here’s how session with top tips and pointers to resources.

  4. "Connecting with families in your community" with Bri L’Hostis, Children and Families Pastor, St Paul’s Ealing.
    Providing for the needs of families within your parish is a key way of both providing much needed support and encouraging a deeper connection with Church. This session will explore how volunteers can build and develop events that attract and nurture families within your locale.
