This training workshop is repeated on 9th March (you only need to attend one)

The Willow Tit is a red listed species that has seen a 94% population decline since the 1970s. Sale Water Park and areas along the Mersey Valley support a population of Willow Tits. Monitoring this population is important to establish the total number of pairs, changes in distribution and areas for habitat management.

If you are keen to contribute towards the conservation of Willow Tits in Trafford, then please join our workshop where you will learn about their fascinating ecology and how to survey for them using playback recordings of their calls and song.

This training workshop will be delivered on zoom by Greater Manchester Ecology Unit and will include:

• Information on Willow Tit behaviour and habitat

• Preparing for a Willow Tit survey – area and routes

• Surveying needs

The data collected by local volunteers will contribute to national analysis, as well as to support the management of local habitats for Willow Tits.

These workshops are funded by a Green Recovery Challenge Project led by TCV and City of Trees to improve woodland habitats along the Mersey Valley in Trafford.
