Wills & Lasting Powers of Attorney: Future Matters Workshop
March is Free Wills Month, an opportunity to reflect on what is most important to you – and ensure your wishes are followed.
We know that more than half of UK adults do not have a Will, and that many people are not sure how to make one. With March being “Free Wills Month”, we are hoping to help put this right for residents in Islington by hosting our Future Matters “Wills & Lasting Powers of Attorney Workshop”
Join Future Matters Islington for a free online session about how you can get support planning your emergency and future care wishes, financial and legal affairs.
LEARN MORE AND ASK THE EXPERTS YOUR QUESTIONS ABOUT:
Setting up a ‘Lasting Power of Attorney’
Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs), are legal documents that allow you to choose one or more people to help make decisions or to make decisions on your behalf, should you be unable to do so. LPAs are a simple way of protecting your health, your finances, and the people you trust.
LPAs can be expensive to set up, but the Future Matters Islington service, run by Gentle Dusk in partnership with Age UK Islington, can provide free support to help you put one in place.
Making a Will
An up-to-date Will, written by a solicitor, is the best way to ensure your wishes are followed and your loved ones looked after.
Free Wills Month (1 – 31 March) offers members of the public the opportunity to have their simple Wills written or updated free of charge. There are participating solicitors in Islington.
How can I get further support following the workshop?
Future Matters Islington offers free one-to-one support for putting in place an LPA and other advance care plans. These will enable you to appoint one or more people to help you make decisions or make decisions on your behalf to do with your health and financial affairs.
