Wilson Memorial Lecture 2017: “Enforcing Promises”
Thu 27 April 2017, 17:30 – 19:00 BST
The 2017 annual W. A. Wilson Memorial Lecture will feature Prof. Sarah Worthington from the University of Cambridge, who will address the Centre for Private Law on the topic of “Enforcing Promises: Lessons from the Common Law-Equity Divide”.
In England, equity has a significant role to play in decisions on enforcing promises. The same practical problems arise everywhere, and yet Scots law deals with them without the need for an English-style equity. This lecture explores the broad contours of the two different jurisdictional approaches to see what might be learnt from a comparison of the similarities and differences.
