Do you, your friend, your father, brother, sister, boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, Grandma, love beer? Want to know more about how it’s made and appreciate its diverse flavours from a position of knowledge? Then join us on one of our Beer Appreciation Days, here at Wimbledon Brewery.
10.30am Arrival and Coffee
10.45am Beer in history and society – What impact has beer had on the culture and daily lives of the good people of these fair isles over the centuries?
11.30am The Brewing Process - Say hello to the ingredients, follow them around various shiny vessels to the majestic finale.
12.30am Beer and Food Matching – After 2 hours of talking about it, you’ll be more than ready for some sampling. Lunch will be a beer and food pairing session, with five beer types to try alongside a varied buffet.
1.45pm Beer Flavour Profiling – The only way to learn is by practicing. Let’s practice with 8 more beer types from around the world. By the end of this session, you will understand more of the complex flavours that constitute a good beer. Hoppy and malty are flavours you probably know already, but can you spot toffee, dried fruits, plums, coffee, clove, marmalade?
2.45pm Brewery Tour – Enter the mystical realm of the brewer. Wander amongst the shiniest vessels this side of Raynes Park. This is where questions will be asked to check if you’ve been listening!
3.15pm Brewery Tap – Finish the day with a sweet sherry in our brewery tap. Alternatively, you could have a few pints of our glorious ale fresh from our casks.
4pm Home Time – By this time everyone will be very emotional and lifelong friends.
Cost: £95 - Includes all teaching materials, lunch, all beer samples and 3 pints in our tap.
