Braun is a premium German brand for electrical appliances. Some associate Braun with design, based on the pioneering industrial design led by Dieter Rams and his successors. Others think of German engineering and innovation: Braun’s invention of the Plexiglas lid for turntables or discovery of two-component moulding, or its innovations in metal surfaces or plastics moulding. Many simply consider the indestructible nature of Braun appliances, renowned for their reliability, longevity and sustainability.
In celebration of Dieter Rams - winner of this year’s Coutts Lifetime Achievement Medal as part of the London Design Medal supported by Panerai the London Design Festival has collaborated with Braun to offer one of three Braun ET66 calculators. This reissue is one of Braun's most iconic designs, which was collaboratively designed by Dietrich Lubs and Dieter Rams and originally released in 1987. The Braun ET66 calculator is considered to be the pinnacle of the “less but better” philosophy thanks to its simple, rectangular design with convex, circular buttons. RRP £30
