Go down Pink Hill, merging into Wardrobes Lane and turn right into Brimmers Road and entrance to Winchester Wood is immediately on the right. We will need to park back to back along the narrow road that runs into Winchester Wood.
The Task:
The site hadn't been managed for a long time up until a couple of years ago when we made a start, so lots of tree popping, brushcutting and raking to help bring it back into condition. We will be planting our next batch of cowslips, the foodplant for the Duke of Burgundy caterpillar too.
Timings (please note these timings are approximate):
10.00: Arrival on site for safety briefing, please don’t be late!
11:30 Tea & biscuits break
13.00: Lunch time, please bring your own (30 minutes)
15.00: Work finishes, time to go home!
What to Bring:
Please bring your gloves (we will have spares) and dress for the weather and the task.
Long trousers are advisable as there may be ticks and thorny vegetation. We also recommend wearing steel toe capped or sturdy boots rather than trainers.
Wear layers that you can remove if you get hot whilst working. Bring a waterproof as most of our sites have no shelter from the rain. If it's sunny you may need a hat and suncream.
Please bring a packed lunch and plenty of fluids. We will bring a tea kit and biscuits.
Volunteering and COVID:
Please do not attend sessions if you have tested positive for COVID or if you have COVID symptoms e.g. a new continuous cough, a high temperature, a loss of, or change in your normal sense of taste or smell.
