Ahoy me hearties! We're off to Mersea Island for a mighty rugby tour for the U9s-U12s. Don't be marooned at home - join our crew today!
Venue
We have booked 31 caravans at the fantastic 5-star family-run Waldegraves Holiday Park on Mersea Island in Essex. Mersea Island is less than a 2-hour drive from Windsor, and the holiday park is right on the beautiful Essex coast.
This promises to be a fun-filled weekend with team bonding activities, fun and of course, rugby!
The caravans are new and very spacious, and we’ll all be located in one exclusive area of the park. Aside from a few resident caravan owners, we have exclusive use of the site for our group.
Package
The price per person will be an incredible £225. This will include the following:
- Send off party at WRFC on Friday afternoon
- Coach travel to the venue, to the tournament and back to WRFC on Sunday
- Accommodation for two nights (Friday and Saturday)
- Meals from Friday evening to Sunday morning
- Team-building activities led by an adventure company on Saturday
- Evening entertainment for kids and adults on Friday and Saturday
- Rugby tournament hosted by Colchester RFC on Sunday
- Player tour kit and hoodie
- A few surprises along the way!
Caravan Facilities
Each caravan has a fully equipped kitchen with a gas cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, kettle, and toaster as well as a bathroom with shower and toilet.
Park Facilities
The campsite has the following facilities:
- Bar and restaurant
- Pool tables
- Outside eating area
- On-site grocery shop
- Playground and sports area
- Family games room
What do I need to do?
Places are limited by age group and to one adult per player so please reserve your place by clicking on the 'Get Tickets' button. Please note that this is purely to reserve your place and that no payment will be taken via Eventbrite (ignore 'Free'cost). Please answer all questions on the booking form. We will expect the first instalment to be paid no later than Sunday 28 September, in order to secure your place.
Payment
The total cost per head is £225 as detailed above. Once you have signed up, we will send out details of how to pay the first instalment, which will act as a deposit and will be non-refundable.
The payment schedule is as follows:
- Instalment 1 by 28/09/25- £50 per person
- Instalment 2 by 31/10/25 - £60 per person
- Instalment 3 by 30/11/25 - £60 per person
- Instalment 4 by 01/02/26 - £55 per person
You can choose to pay in instalments as above, or if you prefer, you can pay the balance at any time.
Please note that the payments above are per person and therefore need to be doubled to include accompanying adult.

Fundraising
The costs payable will go towards the main elements of the tour, however, to provide the player kits and some of the additional activities we’d like to include, we will be relying on fundraising efforts. We will be holding a number of fundraising events to ensure that we make our tour one to remember, so please come along and support us whenever you can. We’ll announce more on the usual channels.
FAQs
Can I bring a younger sibling along?
- No, unfortunately, we are limited to numbers due to the size of the caravan park and as such, we can only book players who play for U9-U12.
Can we bring 2 adults?
- At this stage, we are limiting the booking to 1 player & 1 accompanying adult per age group. If you have more than one player in U9-U12, then you can book an adult for each child.
Can I self-drive?
- The booking includes coach travel as part of the cost, and as such, we would like to encourage all tourists to travel by coach. If logistics prevent you from taking the coach, please let us know, but the cost is still £225 per person.
Is the deposit refundable?
- No, we will not be able to refund the deposit once it is paid and we would encourage you to ensure that you are free and able to come on Friday 20th - Sunday 22nd March 2026 before committing to signing up.
Do I need to take time off work?
- We will confirm exact timings nearer the time, but as it stands, we are planning on an early afternoon send-off at the clubhouse on Friday, 20th March, with the coach departing afterwards (circa 2 pm).
