Wines of Bristol - The Past and Present of Britain's Wine City
Event Information
About this Event
Bristol has a strong history of being one of the main shipping ports in Britain for wine imports since the 15th century and still has historic wine merchants in existence to this day.
Today, it is a city that not only imports but also grows and produces wine as well.
Join us for a tour of Bristol's wines and their fascinating history, as we take a ride with our tastebuds through centuries.
The experience appropriately starts in Cascade Steps at the Centre, as we start with a brief historical insight into our tour followed by a short visit to the cellars of Averys, one of Bristol's longest-standing wine merchants.
The tour then will be followed by a short bus ride up to the lovely Bar Humbug on Whiteladies Road, where we will sit down for a casual but fascinating tasting of 4 Bristol wines, along with some simple nibbles. And we'll delve deep into the history and stories behind each bottle.
Later on, you're welcome to stay and socialise over some of Bar Humbug's terrific, craft cocktails to finish up an afternoon filled with Bristol's fascinating history and culture on your tastebuds.
This is a +18 event, so proper identification will be required for persons under 25.
Transport during the event is included in the price, as a single First Bristol Bus ride ticket for each ticket, which is to get us from College Green up to Clifton Down for our tasting.
