Our Round table events

An initiative launched by WINN, that are being delivered in partnership with Worcester Business Central and The HIVE.

The aim of the round table is three-fold:

  • Focus on a specific sector e.g. Agri-tech, Advanced manufacturing and Cyber / IT to identify new areas of growth;
  • Promote large organisations working in the specified sector to showcase their capabilities;
  • Connect local businesses working in the specified sector with other organisations to realise their shared growth goals.

On the 29 Jan in the Glass Room at The Hive, Worcester 11am-14:30pm, we will be focussing on Advanced Manufacturing.


Agenda:

  • 11am – Key players from the Advanced Manufacturing sector:
  • 13.00pm – Open Discussion – Businesses can explain what they do and what facilities and resources they would find useful to achieve their growth plans
  • 14.30pm – Close.

Dr Lampros Litos, Knowledge Transfer Manager, Manufacturing, Knowledge Transfer Network

Dr Lampros Litos represents the manufacturing systems team at Innovate UK’s Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN). His role is to help manufacturers innovate, as well as innovators to manufacture. Lampros joined KTN following a successful PhD at the Institute for Manufacturing, University of Cambridge, on sustainable manufacturing systems management. Prior to his PhD, Lampros worked in process industries in quality, R&D and sustainability management roles, delivering energy and eco-innovation projects. Lampros is a chemical engineer with specialisations in biotechnology and business administration. You can contact Lampros here.

Lampros will provide a variety of information ranging from how the KTN works in general through to the specific programmes applicable to those working in advanced manufacturing sector e.g. 4manufacturing.

Dr Paul Milne, Project Manager, Product innovation Accelerator, Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG)

Paul has 19 years' experience working in Industry and Government in development and research environments primarily for defence and aerospace applications. He has extensive experience of developing new and innovative materials and has a track record of developing materials and coatings with enhanced optical, mechanical and adhesive properties. During this time he has built up considerable experience of product development processes from initial concept development through to scale up and technology transfer for manufacture.

Paul has lead projects, collaborations and research teams and was most recently a director in an SME specialising in novel coating technology.

Paul will provide an overview of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult, explain how WMG connects to this network, give an insight to the facilities at WMG and clarify how SME’s can get involved.
