Winning Change for our communities
Have you ever wanted to do work in your community or make change but you're not sure where to start? Do you want to build your campaign strategy and organising skills further, or understand the different approaches to campaign and organising? Then this is the programme for you!
With 107 conversations, we beat our target this summer to have 100 121s with about what's making you most angry, and most hopeful! For TAA members, the top issues you want to organise on are: RACISM & THE RISE OF THE FAR RIGHT.
These issues are huge but they're interlinked. Come along to shape TAA’s big member campaign for the next year.
Come join the Winning Change programme to learn how to build campaign strategy and be part of deciding the next community-wide Advocacy Academy campaign for 2026.
Dates to hold: Launch session 6-8pm Monday 20th. Then meeting every two weeks from Monday 27th Oct, Monday 10th Nov, Monday 24th Nov and Monday 8th Dec.
What will I be doing each week?
You'll be learning key skills needed to pull together campaign strategies and organise. You'll also be working up campaign plans for change for after The Big Listen meant over 107 1-1 conversations this summer. The plans that you develop in the sessions this Autumn will then be put to members at The Big Vote on Wednesday 17th December, where the next community wide campaign will be chosen.
After joining these sessions, you'll be able to better strategise and build power to win change in 2026 and beyond. We can provide a certificate of having completed the course too, if you're able to come to 4 of the 5 sessions!
What will I learn by taking part in this programme?
By the end of the programme, you will:
- Think about how to channel our pain and grief into pulling together a campaign strategy as part of organising work. As part of this, you'll learn vital skills on a) Cutting the issue b) Research and power mapping c) Leverage and tactics that win.
- Understand the core practices of community organising and how we 'ride the bike'.
- Learn more about the campaign issues themselves - to be revealed at the first session!
- Learn how leading organisers and thinkers have approached campaigning and organising, from Paulo Freire (who wrote Pedagogy of the Oppressed) and the Highlander Center, to Marshall Ganz and Ella Baker.
