Frequently asked questions

What is the Winsley 500 Hill Climb Event

The Winsley 500 is a high-energy, community cycling event – a 500m hill sprint up Turleigh Hill in Winsley, raising money for Dorothy House Hospice. Open to all ages and abilities, it's part challenge, part village celebration, with a big dash of fun. We celebrate everyone no matter their abilities.

Where is the event taking place?

The event takes place in Winsley, Wiltshire, with the main 500m climb running from the bottom of Turleigh Hill up to the top. The mini climb is 100m. The village becomes the heart of the action, with food, music, and cheering crowds hosted by The Seven Stars Pub.

Do I need to pre-register , or can I sign up on the day?

Pre-registration is strongly recommended as spaces are limited. start time are allocated the week before the event, sign-up opens 1st July. A few spots may be available on the day, but we can’t guarantee them, and those times slots will be after the pre-registered have completed their climbs.

Do I get allocated a time to start?

Yes! All riders will be given a start time a week in advance. We’ll share full timing details the week of the event so you know when to be at the start line. Those who register on the day will be allocated a time. First climb starts at 1pm. Registration (collection of number) opens at 11.30am.

Where is the Mini Climb?

The Mini Climb takes place just near the top of Turleigh Hill, it’s a shorter stretch designed for younger riders and balance bike heroes. It’s safe, fun, ...still a bit of a challenge.

Can I spectate?

Absolutely! Bring your bells, banners and cheering voices. Spectators make this event special, there’ll be music, food, and a festival atmosphere all day.

Can we park at The Seven Stars Pub?

Sadly No, Our wonderful host also will be running their business and so we ask that you park at Dorothy House in the overflow carpark!

Can I volunteer instead of participating?

Yes please! We’re always looking for friendly faces to help with, marshalling, cheering, and more. Volunteering is a brilliant way to be part of the day and support Dorothy House. Drop us a line via Winsleyhillclimb@gmail.com
