Event description
Our Winter '19 Art Preview showcases the work of Adam Dant, Alexandra Gallagher and our newly curated House collection.

About this Event

The House of St Barnabas invites you to join us for the private view of our latest exhibitions and the hanging of our core collection throughout the club.

Adam Dant explores the idiosyncrasies of the city through humorous and insightful cartography. Dant’s work is held in the Tate Britain collection, the Victoria and Albert Museum and New York’s Museum of Modern Art. Dant has previously been awarded the Jerwood Drawing Prize and was chosen as the official Election Artist for the 2015 general election.

Alexandra Gallagher's work celebrates the surreal and bizarre through her rich multidisciplinary work that channels the fantastical and sublime. Her work has been exhibited internationally and previously selected for the Saatchi Gallery Surreal Showdown and the London Contemporary Art Prize.

If you would like to find out more about our art programme please email us on art@hosb.org.uk or head to our website.

The House of St Barnabas is a charity, supporting homeless people into work. The private view is free, but any donation you can make will really help us in our work. A donation of £8 will pay for a haircut for one of our participants before a job interview, whilst £15 would cover a personalised IT training session, helping participants write a CV and search online for a job.

Thank you for your support.

All artworks are for sale and proceeds support our Employment Academy. We're working with Own Art to make our art more accessible; any of our pieces can be paid for over 10 months interest-free.

A huge thank you to all of our supporters: Crown Fine Art, Chestertons, Marble Events and Campari.

The House of St Barnabas' not-for-profit art programme showcases the work of emerging artists, alongside a programme of visual art conceived to inspire and uplift the members and visitors of our not-for-profit members’ club as well as the people we support, who have been affected by homelessness and social exclusion. The art collection also features donations from celebrated artists including Tracey Emin, Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst, Peter Liversidge, Mark Titchner, Yinka Shonibare MBE, and The Chapman Brothers.

The House of St Barnabas is a charity whose vision is to create a future where lasting work is a reality for people affected by homelessness and social exclusion. Participants in our Employment Academy are given work placements throughout our not-for-profit members' club, enabling them to gain valuable work experience in a vibrant, inclusive and culturally driven space and City&Guilds awards in Hospitality and Employability.

Regrettably, due to the nature of our building, there is limited disabled access. There is some information available on our website, but please do email contact@hosb.org.uk for any further detail.
