Winter Conversation about Sanskrit
The first of our new series of Winter Conversations, this online discussion is open to all Iyengar Yoga students looking to understand a little bit more about Sanskrit and it's use in Iyengar Yoga classes.
Grab a cuppa and join us for an informal online discussion led by Joe Burn, an experienced Iyengar Yoga teacher living in Aberdeen. He's going to taking us on a deeper dive into Sanskrit, looking at it's history and why it's still relevant to yoga practitioners today. We are also going to hear more about its grammar, its pronunciation, its vocabulary and how understanding more about Sanskrit can help our own yoga practice.
Joe Burn Level 3 Iyengar Yoga Teacher
Joe has practised Iyengar yoga since 1990, and taught for over twenty years. He is a teacher trainer, an assessor and holds a Junior intermediate level 3 certificate (now Level 3). He has studied at the Iyengar Yoga Institute in Pune with Mr BKS Iyengar and his daughter, Dr Geeta S Iyengar, and son, Prashant, on four occasions.

The idea behind our ESIY Winter Conversations is an opportunity to discuss wider yoga related topics with other members, sharing our knowledge and expertise in a relaxed, informal way (we miss those wee chats with teachers and students at live classes and go into yoga related topics in a bit more depth and details than a weekly class may allow.
Any queries, please message us. We look forward to welcoming you to our ESIY Winter Conversations.
