This half-day course is all about wellness and thriving – delivered by 4 renowned experts* & includes discussions over a virtual drink.

About this event

Max 10 participants: we keep our groups small to provide ample opportunity for each participant to interact and ask questions.

This course on wellness is brought to you by 4 distinguished experts.* The course will explore some of the most important themes for our lives, such as work-home balance, relationships, continuous self-development and overall wellbeing.

You will learn about:

  • Turning pressure (work and other) into strength. For example, taking charge and enjoying your own world, bringing out the stronger version of you, and achieving work-life balance;
  • Understanding the power of relationships for wellbeing; building and maintaining strong relationships;
  • Learning about healthy and enjoyable approaches to physical exercise; and about developing healthy life-styles.
  • Understanding sleep and its links with physical health, psychological health, performance, and wellbeing.

The course is followed by a 45 minutes questions and discussion session with the experts over a virtual drink.

Unlike many other available online courses, this interactive live course is personalised to YOUR questions.

* Course leaders

Professor Yulia Kovas

A geneticist and psychologist with five degrees and many awards; with training in literature, pedagogy, psychology, genetics; with experience in many countries including the UK, the USA, the Russian Federation; who directs and advises several research laboratories. Current roles include: Professor of Genetics and Psychology at Goldsmiths, University of London, Visiting Professor at New York University, Tomsk State University, Sussex University and Higher School of Economics; Director of the International Centre for Research on Human Development; Director of InLab; member of numerous committees (e.g. ethics, research).

Dr Madoka Kumashiro

A personality and social psychologist with 4 degrees, specialising in the interplay of self and relational processes on motivation, personal growth, and well-being, with numerous publications on a variety of different topics. She is a researcher at Goldsmiths, University of London, who has also conducted research in many other countries including the USA, Netherlands and Germany (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, New York University, Lafayette College, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, University of Hamburg). She collaborates with researchers from multiple countries around the world. She is also an outdoor enthusiast and a coach of stand-up paddle boarding, who personally understands the importance of outdoor activities for well-being.

Fatos Selita

A barrister of England and Wales, an Attorney of the New York State, a former Military Officer (degree trained), who has read for three unrelated first degrees; with professional postgraduate training in law, genetics and psychology; with experience in many other countries including the US, continental Europe, the United Nations, the Russian Federation. Currently a Researcher on legal protection against misuses of genetic data; a Director of AIR Courses at Goldsmiths, University of London; Lecturer and Head of Institute of Law and Ethics at Tomsk State University; Visiting Lecturer in a number of other universities (e.g. Oregon State University); Co-founder of TAGC; Founder of the UK Law and Society Association (UKLSA); Executive Publisher of Legal Issues Journal; who also delivers training on public speaking, decision-making; advocacy; persuasion; and genetics and law.

Professor Alice Gregory

A Professor of Psychology with several diverse research areas, and a number of awards. She researches at Goldsmiths, University of London. Her expertise includes the relationship between sleep and mental health; and behavioural genetics. Alice has published two books – Nodding Off, Bloomsbury, 2018; and Sleepy Pebble, Nobrow. She regularly contributes articles to the media and has had her work published in outlets including the Guardian, BBC Focus, GQ UK, Sud Ouest, Slate Fr, Independent.
