About this event

WINTER SOLSTICE MARKS THE DEATH AND REBIRTH OF THE SUN.

As we head into the shortest day of the year, it is time to turn inward.

To reflect back on the year (what a year!) and give gratitude for what we have learnt, grieved, let go of and opened space for.

Time to sit in sacred ceremony with your sisters and call in an invocation for the next season.

Solstice holds a powerful energy for regeneration, renewal and self-reflection. In Pagan times the winter solstice was referred to as Yule and was a celebration of the Goddess (Moon) energy. It was believed that on this day, the moon would give birth to the sun."

The earliest people on Earth knew that the sun’s path across the sky, the length of daylight, and the location of the sunrise and sunset all shifted in a regular way throughout the year. They built monuments such as Stonehenge in England and Machu Picchu in Peru – to follow the sun’s yearly progress.

Since ancient times, people all over the world have recognized this important astronomical occurrence and celebrated the subsequent “return” of the Sun in a variety of different ways.
