This is a moment to pause and take part in a special reflection and seasonal meditative ritual. It comes during a time of year that can often feel very busy in the human world. Meanwhile in the natural world everything is slowing down, rooting down or dying back. As we approach the darkest days, we celebrate the little light that there is and look forward to its return.
During our time together, Celebrant Joy of Rooted Ceremonies will guide us in a quiet reflection on the year, and invite us to think about what we are ready to let go of, what we would like to cherish, what we are longing for or looking forward to. Borrowing from the Waldorf practice of walking the winter spiral, we will then walk into the centre of the spiral laid out in greenery on the floor, and light the first candle in the centre. We will then each walk in, light our own candle and walk out, placing it somewhere in the spiral.
This is a sacred moment within our Seasonal Abundance programme, and comes just before our weekend of Sustainable Wreath Making. Before the greenery is turned into wreaths for home decoration, we wanted to enjoy its beauty laid out on the ground. You are welcome to come and help construct the spiral prior to the workshop. If you want to do this, please get in touch and we can arrange it.
Hot drinks will be provided but please eat lunch before you come!
The whole event is indoors but will involve walking in between narrow paths of greenery in a gently lit room, and with candles on the floor. Please let us know any accessibility needs and we will do our best to accommodate you.
